To create and foster a spirit of understanding among the people of the world.

To provide a forum for the open discussion of all matters of public interest, provided, however, that partisan politics and sectarian religion shall not be debated by club members.

The Lions motto is “We Serve”

The International Board approved and the delegates at the 37th Convention at New York City, July 07-10-1954, adopted 'We Serve' as the official motto of the Association. the phrase sent in by a Lion from Canada was chosen from amongst more than 60,000 entries received from all over the world in response to a call to suggest a motto for the organisation.
